Quick Answer

Nikasteel supplies open-die forged blocks, flat rectangles, stepped shafts, spindles and hubs in carbon, alloy and stainless steel (1045/C45, 4140/42CrMo4, 4340, 304/316) β€” as-forged or rough machined, with UT testing and EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certificates. Quotation per drawing; indicative price the same day.

The forged supply chain runs on drawings, not catalogs. A buyer sends a shaft print or a block list; the forge quotes by weight, steel family and machining scope. This page maps the product range we forge and export, so you can speak the forge's language on the first inquiry.

Steel Families We Forge

GradeEquivalentWhere It Wins
1045C45 / S45CGeneral machinery parts, moderate strength, good machinability
414042CrMo4 / SCM440Shafts, gears, high-stress parts β€” quenched & tempered
434036CrNiMo4 / SNCM439Aircraft-quality strength for spindles and heavy shafts
862020CrNiMo2Case-hardening steel for gears and pinions
304 / 3161.4301 / 1.4404Corrosion-duty forgings: valves, pump shafts, marine

As-Forged or Rough Machined?

  • As-forged (black) β€” cheapest, machining allowance 5–15 mm per side for the buyer's workshop.
  • Rough machined β€” we turn/mill to a semi-finish envelope; you save machine hours and scrap risk. Typical envelope tolerance Β±1–2 mm.
  • Heat treatment β€” normalizing, or quench & temper to specified hardness (e.g. 4140 QT to 28–32 HRC) before shipping.

Testing and Certificates

  • UT (ultrasonic) testing per SEP 1921 / ASTM A388 β€” internal soundness report per piece, essential for shafts and spindles.
  • EN 10204 3.1 MTC standard β€” chemistry and mechanicals per heat; 3.2 (third-party endorsed) available for code work.
  • Mechanical tests: tensile, impact, hardness per drawing notes.

How to Order a Forging (and Get a Fast Quote)

  1. Send the drawing (PDF/DXF/STEP) with steel grade, heat treatment and machining scope marked.
  2. No drawing? Send finished dimensions plus a sketch β€” we draft the forging envelope for approval.
  3. We quote weight Γ— grade Γ— scope the same day; production 20–35 days after drawing confirmation.
  4. Third-party inspection (SGS/BV/TUV) welcome before shipment β€” pre-shipment checklist here.
