The volume colors in PPGI trading are RAL 3005 and 8017 (European tile roofs), RAL 6005 green and 3003 red (agricultural and general roofing in Asia/Africa), RAL 5005 blue (cladding) and RAL 9002/9010 (interior and appliance). Color is carried by the paint system: PE for standard duty, SMP/HDP for longer life, PVDF for prestige facades.
A PPGI order has two decisions that matter more than the rest combined: the coating system (how long the color lasts) and the color itself (what the building looks like). This page is the color-side guide — pairing the right RAL with the right market and product.
The RAL Codes That Move in Volume
| RAL | Name | Where It's Ordered Most |
|---|---|---|
| RAL 3005 | Wine red | European tile-profile roofs; also popular in Latin America |
| RAL 8017 | Chocolate brown | European roofing — the #1 "tile look" color |
| RAL 3003 | Ruby red | General roofing across Southeast Asia and Africa |
| RAL 6005 | Moss green | Agricultural buildings, barns, greenhouses worldwide |
| RAL 5005 | Signal blue | Wall cladding, cold rooms, warehouses |
| RAL 5010 | Gentian blue | Industrial cladding, container-type panels |
| RAL 9002 / 9010 | Grey-white / Pure white | Appliance shells, interior panels, sandwich panel skins |
| RAL 7024 | Graphite grey | Modern industrial walls, solar structures |
| RAL 9006 / 9007 | Aluminium silvers | Appliance backs, metallic-look panels |
Beyond plain colors: wood-grain, brick and flower patterns are printed finishes on PPGI — big in fence panels, interior decoration and tile-look roofing where buyers want texture, not a flat color.
Pairing Color with Coating System
| System | Top Coat | Color Life* | Order For |
|---|---|---|---|
| PE (polyester) | 15–20 µm | 8–12 years | Standard roofing/cladding — the volume product |
| SMP (silicone-modified) | 20–25 µm | 12–18 years | Hot climates, industrial air |
| HDP (high-durability polyester) | 20–25 µm | 15–20 years | Coastal roofing, better flexibility than SMP |
| PVDF | 25–30 µm | 20+ years | Prestige facades, aluminum-look panels |
*Years to first noticeable chalking/fading in moderate climates; harsh coastal/industrial service shortens all classes. Full system comparison: PPGI coating guide →
Gloss and Back Coat — the Two Fields Everyone Forgets
- Gloss: high gloss (~80 GU) reads "new roof" and cleans easily; matte (~30 GU) hides ripples on large walls. State gloss on the order, not just the RAL.
- Back coat: standard 5–7 µm grey/white epoxide backer. For underside-visible ceilings, order a back coat color — it costs little more.
- Color matching: if you are extending an existing roof, send a physical panel — RAL on a certificate rarely matches weathered color on site.
How We Ship PPGI Color Orders
Coil: 0.2–1.5 mm × 600–1250 mm, zinc base Z60–Z180, coil weights 3–6 t, colors per RAL or physical sample, gloss on request, wood-grain and pattern finishes available. Sheets: pre-cut roofing profiles packed with interleaving to protect the paint. MOQ typically 5 t per color — small mixed-color containers are possible. PPGI product page →
