Quick Answer

Nikasteel supplies continuous-cast square billets 100×100 to 150×150 mm in 3SP/5SP, Q235 and 20MnSi grades through our partner mills — 6 m lengths by container (25–27 t) or 6/12 m break-bulk cargoes, with EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates. Regular destinations: Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and West Africa re-rolling mills.

Re-rolling mills live on billet. When scrap prices spike or local casting capacity falls short, mills in North and West Africa import square billets to feed their rebar and wire-rod lines — and Chinese mills are the flexible swing supplier. This page lays out the billet spec system so your inquiry comes back priced fast.

The 3SP / 5SP Grade System — What African Mills Ask For

GradeCarbonMnCharacter
3SP0.14–0.22%0.40–0.65%Standard re-rolling billet — good ductility for rebar
5SP0.28–0.37%0.50–0.80%Higher strength — for high-yield rebar lines
Q235≤ 0.22%≤ 1.40%Chinese general structural grade
20MnSi0.17–0.25%1.20–1.60%Higher Mn — feeds high-strength rebar (HRB400) lines

Tell your mill's product mix (rebar sizes and strength class) and we will match the billet grade — ordering 5SP when the line makes 3SP-grade rebar wastes money, and the reverse loses strength.

Logistics: Container vs Break-Bulk

  • Container (trial / small mills): 6 m billets in 40GP — 25–27 t per box, bundles of 1.5–2 t, easy discharge at ports without bulk handling.
  • Break-bulk (working mills): 500–2,000 t parcels, 6/9/12 m lengths, geared vessels or port cranes. Freight per ton drops sharply at this scale.
  • Ports we serve regularly: Alexandria & Dekheila (Egypt), Algiers (Algeria), Casablanca (Morocco), Tunis (Tunisia), Benghazi, plus Dakar, Tema, Lagos and Mombasa further south.
  • Documents: CI, PL, BL, CO and EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate per heat — the paper your customs broker and quality lab both need.

Four Checks Before Booking a Billet Cargo

  1. Grade on the MTC: the certificate must name 3SP/5SP (or your specified grade) with heat chemistry — "equivalent" is not a grade.
  2. Dimensional check at loading: billet tolerance runs ±3–5 mm on section; agree inspection at loading port (SGS/BV) for large parcels.
  3. Length mix: confirm 6 m ±50 mm vs exact lengths — mill rolling schedules vary.
  4. Payment terms by parcel size: containers run T/T 30/70; break-bulk cargoes commonly L/C at sight.

Feeding the re-rolled products back: we also supply the finished sections, plates and coils that mills and traders buy alongside billet — one contact for the whole steel basket. Africa market overview: Steel supplier for Africa →
